Rocks Come Alive…

 The work of Caroline Kwas is a tour de force in the study of the small.  Her Intimate Landscapes will transport you to the beach and invite you to look closely at the small treasures Nature has to offer  us.  Her artwork showcases the sublime intricacies that are found underfoot but often overlooked.  A Long Island native,  its rugged seashore fuels her unique vision of beauty.

Caroline’s vision is exquisitely expressed in her oil paintings depicting the geological makeup of her homeland.  She is a master of light and shadow.  Using rocks, shells, and similar terrestrial minutia as her chosen subjects, her pieces create an authentic coastal feel through their realism and  by accentuating light and shadow to create drama where you least expect it.  Here, within otherwise serene scenes, each rock is allowed to tell its own story.
